On October 30, AGC along with its industry partners on the Construction Industry Safety Coalition (CISC) submitted comments in support of our oral testimony highlighting challenges with the proposed heat rule, and recommendations on how the agency could simplify compliance while ensuring worker safety.
AGC and CISC emphasized that any final rule should focus on the long-standing approach of water, rest, shade, and training and education. Additionally, both groups urged OSHA to reconsider their reliance on fixed temperature triggers – both the initial and high heat – due to variances in regional climates.
Engagement in the rulemaking process is crucial to ensuring that any final standard effectively addresses the diverse needs and challenges of the construction industry. AGC will continue to monitor and report on the status of the proposed heat rule.
