The National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-By Incidents is held annually during National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) to raise awareness of struck-by hazards, which may include falling and flying objects, vehicles and heavy equipment, and crane swing hazards. These incidents are the number one cause of nonfatal injuries in construction and the leading cause of death among heavy and civil construction workers.

Sponsored by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and CPWR-The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) with support from the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Construction Sector Council, including OSHA, this event encourages workplaces to take a break to focus on struck-by hazards and reinforce the importance of training and prevention. On Monday, April 21 @ 2:30 pm ET CPWR will host The National Stand Down to Prevent Struck-By Incidents Webinar: Work Zone Technologies Webinar (register here). Outreach, educational and stand-down materials are available here, and include infographics, toolbox talks, recordings of the 2024 events and other past webinars.
