As a demonstration of AGC of America’s participation and leadership in highway construction safety and health, association staff participated in the National Work Zone Awareness Week Kick Off Event on April 22.
This year’s event was hosted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Raleigh, NC, and carried the theme “Respect the Zone, So We All Get Home.” The message serves as a powerful reminder of the need for drivers to slow down, stay alert, and recognize changes in road conditions to help prevent crashes in and around active work zones.
National Work Zone Awareness Week is an annual campaign dedicated to raising public awareness about the dangers associated with driving near construction zones. Speeding, distracted driving, and other reckless behaviors not only put workers at risk—but also the lives of fellow drivers and passengers.
