During the week of July 7th, AGC of America staff and members attended the US Water Alliance’s One Water Summit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The US Water Alliance is a national membership organization dedicated to advancing policies and programs dedicated to expanding water access.
The One Water Summit is the Alliance’s regularly held convention that seeks to advance water policy nationwide and bring water stakeholders together. Summit attendees participate in the conference as Delegations that seek to highlight specific areas of need within the water sector. AGC members attended the Summit as a Delegation to highlight the importance of the EPA’s State Revolving Fund (SRF) program, which operates like a bank to the states providing funding for drinking and wastewater infrastructure projects. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and annual congressional appropriations offer funding for the SRF program, and with IIJA funding set to expire at the conclusion of 2026, it is a critical time for the future of this program. Other Delegations and attendees also highlighted the importance of the SRF program along with other topics, such as community access to water and climate change challenges within the water sector.
One Water Summit breakout sessions highlighted a variety of topics pertaining to water, including the future of water infrastructure funding, using water throughout the expansion of AI datacenters nationwide, how to conduct lead service line replacement projects and more. Attendees also participated in construction site visits for projects being undertaken by Pittsburgh Water to expand access throughout the city.
