AGC of America recently urged the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee to report favorably to the full Senate the nomination of David Keeling to serve as the Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The HELP Committee voted to approve Mr. Keeling’s nomination on June 26. His nomination will now move to the Senate floor for a final vote at a later date.
Mr. Keeling has a strong background in leading the safety and health efforts at some of the largest employers in the United States and has a proven track record of working with both labor and management in these roles. Given his background and experience, he is well suited to continue leading the mission of OSHA – protecting the men and women working across all industry sectors, including construction.
During his June 5 HELP Committee confirmation hearing, Mr. Keeling outlined his three main goals for OSHA if he’s confirmed as leader of the agency – modernizing regulatory oversight and rulemaking, strengthening industry collaboration, and transforming enforcement through data. Learn more here.
