On October 15, two members of the House Committee on Ways and Means hosted dueling roundtables in St. Louis, Missouri, and Grand Prairie, Texas, featuring participation by AGC members. In St. Louis, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), along with Representatives Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) and Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), hosted a roundtable with local business leaders, including Kelly Kenter, President & CEO of Sitelines, Inc. In Grand Prairie, Representative Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) hosted a roundtable with business leaders from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Phillip Hoppman, President of Pebcor Holdings.
The roundtables are part of the “tax teams” process that Chairman Smith set up earlier this year for Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee, to receive input from interested stakeholders about the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The discussions at these roundtables focused on the importance of extending many of the legislation’s temporary provisions, including the Section 199A qualified business income deduction, 100 percent expensing, and other topics.
