Attendees at the 2023 AGC Annual Convention in Las Vegas participated in several sessions of specific relevance to union construction contractors. On March 12, 2023 attendees participated in a tour of the Carpenters International Training Center where they received presentations by the Carpenters Training Fund and the education and training department of the ITC as well as a tour of the 17 acre campus, 1.2 million square foot facility.

Attendees tour the 1.2 million square foot Carpenters International Training Center.

The convention also offered an opportunity for attendees to participate in a Collective Bargaining Seminar on March 13. At the seminar members heard from speakers on negotiation strategies and legal and practical considerations during bargaining. On March 14 the Union Contractors Committee hosted the State of the (Iron Workers) Union session featuring Eric Dean, the general president of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers. Dean provided updates on the Iron Workers membership, workforce development initiatives, pension plan funding, and initiatives around mental health and safety for ironworkers.

Finally, the Union Contractors Committee set a meeting schedule for the remainder of 2023 with a series of quarterly virtual meetings. All AGC union contractors are invited to participate and can contact Jim Young at jim.young@agc.org for more information. The meetings will take place at 2:00 PM Eastern Time on June 14th, September 20th and December 13th.
