EEOC Extends Deadline for 2019 & 2020 EEO-1 Data Collection

The deadline to submit and certify 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 data HAS BEEN CHANGED. The new filing deadline is NOW Monday, August 23, 2021. After delaying the opening of the 2019 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collections on May 8, 2020, in light of the COVID-19 public health emergency, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced the opening of the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection on April 26, 2021.

The EEO-1 is an annual survey that requires all private employers with 100 or more employees and federal government contractors or first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and a contract/subcontract of $50,000 or more to file the EEO-1 report. The EEO-1 report provides employment data by race/ethnicity, gender and job categories. The filing of the EEO-1 report is not voluntary and is required for eligible employers by federal law, Section 709(c), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; and §1602.7–§1602.14, Title 29, Chapter XIV, of the Federal Code of Regulations. Employers should visit the newly launched EEO-1 Component 1 website at EEOCdata.org/eeo1 for the latest filing updates and additional information. By visiting the Filer Support Center located at EEOCdata.org/eeo1/support, employers can request assistance as well as find helpful resources, including fact sheets and FAQs.
