Last week, AGC held the Financial Issues Forum, which was attended by over 30 construction financial professionals and service providers, in Jacksonville, Florida. The forum heard presentations from AGC staff about the prospects for tax legislation in 2025 to deal with the expiring tax provisions from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the outlook for labor and immigration policy during the second Trump administration, the impact of tariffs on construction, and a general political outlook.

The group also heard from Scott Greenberg, Tax Counsel to Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), and Michael Gould, Tax Counsel to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) about their outlook for taxes in 2025; Alicia Manders, technical director at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) about FASB’s upcoming accounting projects related to construction; and an update on the surety market from John Sanders from Zurich North America.

The next meeting is tentatively planned to be in Washington, D.C. in June to coincide with the Federal Contractors Conference (FedCon).
